Trip to Olivet 2026
The Committee are very pleased that so many Members are interested in going to Olivet next year; just to remind you, the dates are Thursday 25 June to Monday 29 June.
Some Members from the Wells Twinning Club will be joining us on the coach journey’s to and from Olivet again, which helps with the costs.
There are a few things that those travelling need to be aware of;
- First, the EU should have fully implemented its changes to Border Crossings by then. This means that (if you haven’t already travelled to the EU before then) your fingerprints will be digitally scanned and you will be photographed. So it might take a little longer to pass through Border Control.
- Secondly, there have been a few stories in the travel press recently about travellers not having enough time left on their Passport before it expires. Please ensure you have at least 6 months left from June next year.
- And finally, don’t forget your travel insurance. It seems the French border control people can ask to see proof of insurance before letting people into France.

Finally
There is also a “Cercle français"
A group of Twinning Club members who meet the third Tuesday of the month in members’ homes with the aim of covering all things French and ultimately improving our language skills.
It is a very informal gathering with lots of chat (in French preferably), coffee and biscuits and reading and understanding texts in French, translating texts from English to French, listening to French songs and a quiz about all things French.
The group comprises native French speakers, fluent French speakers and less fluent French speakers and this mix provides a great dynamic. The Group is full at present, but vacancies occur from time to time “
